The Best Ways to Enjoy Your Backyard this Spring

We love this time of year. Flowers are in bloom, people are stepping outside to enjoy the fresh air and temperatures are rising. It’s the perfect time to head outside and enjoy the great outdoors in your own backyard. But after a long (it was waaay too long) winter, you may be a little out of practice in the art of coming up with outdoor activities. That’s why we decided to share, what we think, are the best ways to enjoy your backyard this spring!

Throw a party!

With the beautiful weather and flourishing surroundings, it’s only natural that the timing feels right for entertaining. Spring gatherings can be intimate or accommodate larger groups. As for a theme, spring is all you need. Decorate with fresh flowers and feed your guests with spring’s bounty. Who doesn’t love strawberry shortcake? And with your Tick and Mosquito shield up, you can be sure the only guests that will be showing up are the ones you invited.

DIY Your Heart Out

The flowers are not the only things that can make your backyard beautiful this season. We are thinking about what DIY yard projects we will start. Sometimes things out back get kind of, well, boring. But these colorful and easy DIY shelf frames are the perfect thing to turn your yard into a gallery filled with nature’s works of art. We adore herb gardens! They are so cute and useful at the same time. This one fits both of those criteria, it’s the perfect thing for spicing up your spring recipes.

For the Birds

With the season comes our feathered friends. The birds are back to enchant us with their beautiful trills. Invite them to your backyard and offer them something to eat. Hang some bird feeders in the trees or on your patio. Then, sit back and enjoy.

Let Your Garden Blossom

As the Winter transitions into Spring, a new bloom will arrive with the season. A fresh garden will add life to your backyard. Beautiful flowers will encourage you to stop and smell the roses. Every season has a unique set of plant species that flourish during each period. Some spring flowers include iris, hyacinth, snowflake, and dewberry.

Get dirty in the yard.

Mow the grass. Pull weeds. Till flower beds. Replant. Cut back. Find pleasure in getting dirty. Not only will it be fun, your yard will be ready to go for other springtime events (see Throw a Party!). Use our guide to outdoor cleaning as a handbook to get you started.

Grill Out

We love being able to cook outside. And the food options for grilling are endless, especially if you’re trying to eat healthily. Some of our spring favorites include asparagus, artichokes, radishes… yes, radishes! Try this recipe that tosses radishes in rosemary brown butter and then quickly grilled. MMMmmm!
